ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Hello! My name is Adrianna K. Canino Rivera, founder of Miu for Cats. I’m currently sixteen years old and a junior in high school. Initially, I started this foundation as an initiative to help save the cats around my neighborhood. Ever since I was little, my mother taught me how to love and respect all living things, but most importantly, she taught me to help any life I can if I have the opportunity to. This is why when I saw a situation that was happening in my town, one in which people were killing stray cats due to over-population, I knew I had to something about it. I have a cat of my own which I rescued and part of my motivation to start this organization came from saving her. Therefore, I made it my mission to start a non-profit organization with the mission of helping and protecting cats around Puerto Rico who face situations like such.
WHAT WE DO
At Miu For Cats, we strive to safeguard the welfare of cats by addressing one of the primary causes as to why we have observed feline abuse in our own community.We are dedicated to accomplishing our goal through an integrated approach that includes assisting vulnerable cats along with partnering with a veterinarian practice that shares our enthusiasm for the good health of kittens.Given that feline cruelty has been exacerbated by overpopulation, our initiative in tackling this problem is to collaborate closely with our partner veterinary clinic, which has kindly consented to offer discounted neutering procedures for cats in our care. By halting the cycle of feline overpopulation, we hope to spare numerous cats from suffering the rigors of a life on the streets, neglect, or even death.We hope to drastically reduce the amount of undesired kittens born into dire circumstances by making affordable neutering treatments available, as these have also been shown to be very helpful for feline welfare and health. In addition, we strive to take care of these cats and locate safer environments for them. We want to start a shift that spreads throughout our immediate community and beyond.Join us in our effort to save, protect, and provide disadvantaged cats with a better future. With the help of our hardworking team, kind donors, and caring volunteers, We hope to create an age in which every cat's life is appreciated, valued, and unharmed.
